Setup Guide: Shopify, Google Shopping & GA4
1. Create a Google Analytics 4 property
Firstly, sign into your Google Analytics account. Click on 'Admin', then '+Create Property'. Select 'Google Analytics 4' and follow the prompts to set up your new property.
2. Obtain your Measurement ID
After your GA4 property is created, you’ll be taken to a 'Data Stream' setup page. Complete the steps and you'll get a 'Measurement ID' starting with 'G-'. Keep this handy.
3. Enable Google Shopping in Shopify
In your Shopify admin, click 'Sales Channels', then '+'. Find Google Shopping in the list and click '+'. Follow the prompts to set up Google Shopping.
4. Add your Measurement ID to Shopify
Now, still in Google Shopping, connect your new GA4 property.
5**. Confirm setup**
After saving, visit your website and perform a few actions (like visiting a product page or adding a product to cart). Then, go back to GA4 and check the 'Real-time' report to make sure events are being tracked.
